This is part 2 of Super Easy Ways to Organize Your House
Getting organized and staying organized is not easy. Maybe your not even sure how to organize your house. With just a few steps and a plan, you can organize your house with inexpensive items that will help you keep your house and budget in check.
We talked of giving every item a home and not overcrowding the area that we place our things. Giving everything we own a home is the first step.
Every family has it own struggles with clutter. It may be papers, it may be a closet overflowing with all of our treasure or it could be a cupboard with cleaning products in disarray. Where do we begin? How do we once and for all get a handle on this stuff? Better yet how do you do it without spending a fortune on stuff to organize it?
First, we have to create a plan. A plan of attack of sorts. Look around your home what area is bothering you the most? Is it your kitchen or maybe it is your bathroom? Maybe, it’s your whole house. Don’t get overwhelmed! Just start with one thing, one area.
Whatever area it is, look it over. What do you need to do in order to get that area decluttered? Do you have too much stuff in there? Do you have things in there that you never use?
Once you have picked an area that you feel you are ready to declutter we need to begin by sorting all of the stuff in it. Start by setting up 3 baskets or boxes or bags. Whatever you have on hand. One for the things that you want to keep. One for things to sell and one for things that you are going to donate.
Once all of the items are sorted take a good look at the things that you decided to keep. Do they need to be in the area that you previously had them?
You previously decided to keep the surfboard that you had in the bathroom closet. What don’t you have a surfboard in your bathroom closet? OK, maybe you have an ironing board that was in the bathroom closet. Is that the best place for the ironing board? Maybe you have a laundry room that you always iron in. Would it not be more convenient to store it where you use it?
Think of the things that you are going to store, the things that you are going to give a “home”. Does it really need to be in that area or is there another area that would be a better,”home” for it.
Next week we will dig in with some examples of products that you can use to organize your home. House organizing tips that won’t cost a fortune.
