Winter Fun Activities for Families
Is your family in need of some winter fun yet? Can you believe January is almost over? All of the hustle and bustle of the holidays have passed and the kids are settled back into their school routines. Just when you start to feel the calm you start to hear I am bored, there is nothing to do! Can we go somewhere? Can we do something?
Do something? Don’t these kids know that most of us have made a resolution to get our finances on track this year? Doing something with a family can get pretty expensive really quick!
I have come up with some inexpensive fun things to do in the winter to help with cabin fever and the I am bored comments.
When it’s too cold to go outside for a swim visit your local community pool. Most offer member pricing and also offer family discounts.
Burn off some of that energy by going rollerskating. Did you know depending on your weight that you can burn over 300 calories an hour by roller skating? Awesome, give the kids something to do and help you stick to that other new years resolution most of us commit to.
Head on out to a movie. Most theaters offer early matinee pricing.
Have fun baking together. These peanut butter cookies would be super fun for the kids to dip into chocolate.
Another cure for the I am bored is to cook something together. Plan out a family dinner together. Create a menu together and head out to the store and grab the things that you need and have each family member help create part of the meal.
Spend the afternoon playing games together. Dig into that stack of games that you have or play one of these minute to win it games
Head on out to play some laser tag. This is one of my families favorites!
Visit your local Library. Check their online calendar for upcoming free events.
Visit a museum. Make sure to ask about the family discount!
Check online for local Musicals, Plays or Concerts
For those in the Snow
Head on outside and build a fort!
Or maybe build a snowman, look how cute he is!
Grab all your winter gear and head on out to the hills and go sliding. Don’t forget the sunglasses!
Ice Skating is always fun.
How about some skiing or snowboarding?
No matter what you decide to do for some winter fun, please remember to enjoy each other and make some great memories. I would love for you to share some pictures of your family fun on our Facebook page!
