4 Easy ways to better organize your bills
- Open all of your bills. Do not just put your bills in a pile and not open them. It is tempting to avoid opening bills when payments are overdue or not opening because you think that it is just the normal monthly statement. You may just be surprised and find a refund check for overpayment.
- Have a place for your bills. Many companies are now only sending statements in Email. If you receive emails for e-bills consider creating a folder and save all of your bills that are due in one folder. Also, for paper statements have a file for all bills that are due.
- Pay your bills at the same time each day. Paying bills at the same time of day helps you to create a bill paying routine.
- Track your payments online and on paper. I track my payments electronically with quicken but I also keep a printed monthly bill tracker not only for my records but to have a quick reference that all bills were paid.
