Ways to Make Money
There is more to a budget-friendly life than just sticking to a budget. In fact, there are quite a few things that come into play. You’ll need to utilize your budget for how to spend and save your money; however, it’s important to pay attention to the income you bring in your household too.
In our home, we realized that it wasn’t wise to put “all our eggs in one basket.” What I mean is that we have stayed open to alternative ways to make money other than our 9 to 5 jobs.
Since the beginning of our marriage, we planned for me to stay home with our children. We used our budget to help us live on my husband’s income, even while I was still working. Then we got the crazy idea to try and make money in a variety of ways.
Multiple Streams of Income
Most people have what they consider their “day job.” I knew that one day my income would be gone. In order to have flexibility in the ole budget, I decided to research how to make money from home.
Immediately, I realized that bringing in multiple streams of income to our home was just a wise financial plan. Life happens and the unexpected can your budget a curve ball. If you have more than one source of income, then you have some cushion in the event of a job loss or family emergency.
Extra Income Ideas
My friends, Pinterest and Google, answered my questions quite beautifully as I tried to learn how to money from home. The key to multiple streams of income is that you may find income that is intermittent, a one-hit wonder, part time or even something that could launch into a full-time career.
Some ways to make income from home include:
- Start a blog
- Tutor struggling students
- Offer freelance writing services
- Pet sitting
- Take online surveys
- Secret shopping
- Test products and services for companies
- Write a book or create a product to sell
These are just a few of the options that I found interesting and doable. There are many more that could possibly work for you.
How I Pulled it Off
Ok, I’ve explained the why and given some ideas on how to start bringing in multiple streams of income. Let me explain how it’s possible and the way I made it happen for us.
After my research on ways to make money from home, I decided to start a blog. You can make money blogging in a variety of ways.
However, don’t get me wrong, it was hard work, and it took me a year before I made any money! My goal to help our household with a variety of income streams pushed me onward.
Since creating my blog, I have started freelance writing and even work as an Administrative Assistant for a well-known blog. My diligent networking and pitching for opportunities in the blog world helped me to start making a part-time income from home.
You Can do This
If I can pull this off, then anyone can. If you want to make money from home and are willing to throw a little elbow grease into your goal, then you can create multiple streams of income for your household.
