The hard part is done you created your budget.
I have created a budget now what? How do I stick to it?
Planning may start yearly but continues monthly, weekly and even daily.
What works for our Family:
- Monthly planning and reviewing of our budget. We review our budget monthly, by reviewing the previous month it gives us a chance to see where we are at on budget if something is not working. Planning for the upcoming month we are looking ahead to see if there is a new expense that needs to be added to our budget. - Weekly Planning and Review to stay on Budget. We review our schedule/calendar what expenses we have for the upcoming week.
- Daily Planning and Review to stay on Budget. We take a peek at our everyday activities, what is on our schedule/calendar or menu and what is happening with our finances daily.
I am a planner, a scheduler at heart. It is OK if you are not. You just need to find what works for you and stick to it. Checking in daily, weekly and monthly works for me, as I am looking at my finances I am looking to see if I am on track. Has something come up that I did not anticipate? By checking in I can plan an attack and not let my finances get out of control.
What works for me will not necessarily work for you. Living A Budget-Friendly life is living within a budget that works for you and your family.
